On May 1st & 2nd 2014, Eric Worre, the Network Marketing Pro, has offer his best selling book – GO PRO, 7 steps to becoming a network marketing professional – a great discount to his supporters and anyone who have the desire to become professional network marketing. Therefore, I bought this book as well. Eric takes his more than 25 years experience int he profession and boils it down to nuts and bolts practical wisdom you can learn and apply. It is a must-read if you want to succeed in being a network marketing professional.
I would like to summarize a little part of the Eric points here to share with you. I like this point “Network Marketing isn’t perfect…it’s just better.”
Do you feel there must be a better way when it comes to your work and the way you make your living?
Yes, there is a BETTER way, but it’s different than what you were being taught in school. Let me explain what I like to call “The Perfect Career List” in today’s work life.
All “jobs” that I know of fall into one of five categories:
1. Blue-collar careers
A blue-collar worker is a member of the working class who performs manual labor. It is someone who labors to fix something, make something, clean something, build something or service something.
In real life, I’ve worked many blue-collar jobs as build something in housing construction , make something in furniture industry, service something in restaurant and health-care center. Can blue-collar work deliver on The Perfect Career list? The obvious answer is no. Blue-collar just can’t get you where you want to be.
2. White-collar careers
The term white-collar workers refer to a person who performs professional, managerial, or administrative work. This type of work is typically performed in an office or cubicle. Many people choose this career as it is one of the most socially acceptable of the options available. These workers think white-collar careers as the safe and secure options. Well, this concept has changed now. There is no more if you are loyal to the company, the company will be loyal to you.
I worked as white-collar worker as well. There are two types of people here: Achievers and Hiders.
Achievers are the people who want to perform at a high level. They will show off everything their got to move up the corporate ladder. In any company events, they will show up all the time. They are ambitious, motivated and energetic. But there is a downside for the Achiever. They will usually become a target. Their peers see them as threatening to their job, so they start to hold them down or take shots as their reputation. So, in order to survive in this hostile environment, an Achiever must become good at one thing that has nothing to do with their productivity – and that’s politics. They must learn how to play the politics by diminishing their enemies and strengthening their relationship with powerful people.
Now what about the Hiders? These people HATE politics, but still need a job. They keep quiet all the time. They HIDE. They keep their heads down and do as they’re told in order to survive.
So, can white-collar careers on The Perfect List? Hell no. The answer is clearly NO.
3. Sales
This is certainly more adventurous because typically salespeople are paid on their production instead of by the hour. The typical salesperson will have a period of time where everything goes perfectly. Everything they touch turns to gold and they make some really good money. When that happen, they almost always set their lifestyle to that level of income – new house, new cars, kids go to better school, etc… Everything is great for a while. When something happen, they still start at zero the next day. The salesperson’s world could get more complicated.
Can a sales career pay the bills? Sure. But can it on The Perfect Career list? Again, the answer is NO.
4. Traditional business ownership
Some people opt for the big dream – build their own business to become their own boss. Here’s the reality for most people – use their life savings, take a loan from bank or loan-shark, partnership with someone, many times borrow money from friends and family members to get started. In the first few months, they continue to take on more debt to pay leases and any expenses to get more business.
They have to be all things to all people. They are doing EVERYTHING including take out the garbage. They are the first person to work and the last person to leave. After everyone else gets paid, they might be able to take home enough money to pay their own bills. They struggle. Instead of owning the business, the business owns them. They either succeed or fail. If they fail, many times filing for bankruptcy and go back to work for someone again. Even if they are successful, that usually means a lifetime of long hours and stress.
Well, I have started my own business before. It’s in the medium size eatery business. The above description is totally accurate.
So, it’s pretty clear that traditional business ownership can’t provide the Perfect Career list.
5. Investor
If you don’t have a lot of money, it’s very difficult to earn a living from the return on your investments. You need to have incredible knowledge and skill as well. Invest in someone’s traditional small business or stock market? It’s very difficult to have guaranteed returns when you’re not in control. Anything can happen, and it can happen overnight.
So, I still don’t think an investor can being on The Perfect Career list.
The NEW Economy
The world as you know it has changed. For the people who still don’t recognize that fact, it will be the worst of times. For the people who do, it will be the best of times.
The world is moving toward a performance economy. That means in the future, you’re going to be paid for performance. You won’t be paid for your time anymore. Servers in the eatery industry already live in this model – low hourly wage. They make their living through tips, based on their performance. Can you imagine the same model being applied to virtually every job in the world, you will see what is coming.
The exponential rise of technology has changed everything. Thus, the New Economy needs fewer people.Remember the customer service call centers, online order, movies on the handheld devices, e-books, etc… Technology and efficiency are eliminating jobs every single day, and nothing can stop them. This trend is only going to accelerate.
Network Marketing is BETTER
The best way to not only survive, but to thrive in the New Economy, is Network Marketing. Companies have choices to promote their products and services in the world today. They can use the advertising, hire a large and expensive sales force, or utilize Network Marketing to tell their story to the world. More and more companies will choose to use the Network Marketing because it fits the New Economy. Word-of-mouth advertising continues to work better than any other form of promotion. The company just need to pay their distributors to spread the word.
To you as an entrepreneur is that you can receive all the benefits of traditional business ownership without the typical risks. Also there will be no income cap as Network Marketing companies WANT you to make as much as possible.
